Discussion

Support for Siri is nonessential and must be disabled. The information system must be configured to provide only essential capabilities. Enabling any service increases the attack surface for an intruder. By disabling unnecessary services, the attack surface is minimized.

Check Content

Verify the macOS system is configured to disable Siri with the following command:

/usr/bin/osascript -l JavaScript << EOS
$.NSUserDefaults.alloc.initWithSuiteName('com.apple.applicationaccess')\
.objectForKey('allowAssistant').js
EOS

If the result is not "false", this is a finding.

Fix Text

Configure the macOS system to disable Siri by installing the "com.apple.applicationaccess" configuration profile.
