Discussion

By limiting the number of failed login attempts, the risk of unauthorized system access via user password guessing, otherwise known as brute forcing, is reduced. Limits are imposed by locking the account.

Check Content

1. Using an account of appropriate privileges to access TCMax, go to Settings >> User Options.

2. Click the "Configure" menu option at the top of the window, then click "Account Security Policy".

3. Click the "Account Lockout" tab.

If the "Enable Account Lockout Policy" box is unchecked or if the "Number of failed login attempts" value is greater than "3", this is finding.

If the "Timespan for failed logins (minutes)" is greater than "15", this is a finding.
