Discussion

By limiting the number of failed login attempts, the risk of unauthorized system access via user password guessing, otherwise known as brute-forcing, is reduced.

Check Content

1. Log in to the WTM Web UI.
2. Navigate to Admin >> User Management >> Login Control.
3. Verify "Max Login Attempts" is set to "3".
4. Verify the "CLI Lockout Period (seconds)" is set to "900".
5. Verify the "GUI Lockout Period (seconds)" is set to "900".

If the device is not configured to enforce the limit of three consecutive invalid logon attempts, after which time it must block any login attempt for 15 minutes, this is a finding.
