Without sufficient granularity of time stamps, it is not possible to adequately determine the chronological order of records. Time stamps generated by the application include date and time. Granularity of time measurements refers to the degree of synchronization between information system clocks and reference clocks.
Determine if the Nokia router records time stamps for audit records that meet a granularity of one second for a minimum degree of precision. This requirement may be verified by demonstration or configuration. Verify that "TIMESTAMP Format" is set to "millisecond": - show log log-id <log id> show log log-id 101 498 2025/11/10 18:35:48.230 UTC MINOR: USER #2011 management admin "User from 10.2.0.2: NFS-Sr-2s# configure log syslog 1" If the Nokia router does not record time stamps for audit records that meet a granularity of one second for a minimum degree of precision, this is a finding.
Configure the Nokia router to record time stamps for audit records that meet a granularity of one second for a minimum degree of precision. Configure the syslog for millisecond granularity using the command below: - configure log syslog timestamp-format millisecond Other log files use millisecond granularity by default.
